Reference Checks Skipped Due to Hiring Delays

Recent research has shown that 52% of HR professionals cite delays in the hiring process as the reason for avoiding reference checks. Fourty-one per cent said candidates were lost due to delays.

Astonishingly, referees are not organised before applying for a job in 67 per cent  cases and unplanned reference phone calls occurred in 77 per cent of cases.

More alarmingly, the research reveals only  57 per cent of recruiters would act on unfavourable feedback even though 96 per cent of say that negative feedback is a concern.
